Your Practitioner

Belinda Billinge has been caring for feet for more than 20 years, providing thoughtful, professional foot health care with a calm and considerate approach that puts patients at ease.

As founder of The Considerate Practice, Belinda is passionate about helping people maintain comfortable, healthy feet through supportive care tailored to individual needs. Her work focuses not only on treatment, but also on prevention, ongoing foot health, and helping patients remain active, comfortable, and independent.

Known for her warm and approachable manner, Belinda believes that foot care should never feel rushed or impersonal. She takes time to listen, explain, and provide care in a way that respects each patient as an individual.

Alongside her clinical work, Belinda is deeply committed to improving access to foot care within the community. Through initiatives including Forgotten Feet and Friends of Fairford & Lechlade Communities, she helps provide essential foot health support to people who may otherwise struggle to access care.

Outside of work, she enjoys quiet walks with her partner and spending time at home with her two much-loved cats, Bella and Shadow.

What is your appointment and cancellation policy?

Cancellations and Rescheduling – All Appointments

We kindly ask for a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows us to manage our schedule and accommodate other clients with the same level of exclusivity and care. For cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the appointment, the following applies:

Less that 48 hours notice – 50% of treatment fee
Less than 24 hours notice/non-attendance – 100% of treatment fee

Late Arrival – Clinic Appointments

In the event of a late arrival, we will make every effort to accommodate you, but please be aware this may necessitate adjustments to your treatment duration or change the appointment date. The full treatment fee for the appointment will be payable whether or not we can accommodate you.

Missed Appointments – All Appointments

In cases of no-shows without prior notification, the full treatment fee for the appointment will be payable. We carefully prepare for each appointment, and a missed session without notice prevents us from extending our services to other clients.

Consideration for Unforeseen Circumstances – All Appointments

We understand that life can be unpredictable. Please inform us at your earliest convenience if you have any extenuating circumstances. We will consider these situations sympathetically and try our best to accommodate your needs.

What Is Routine Foot Care?

Patients often choose to see a Foot Health Practitioner for routine foot care when experiencing common concerns such as corns, calluses (hard skin), athlete’s foot, warts, or verrucae.
At The Considerate Practice, the practitioner also supports patients with toenail issues including non-surgical ingrown nails, fungal nail infections, and thickened nails β€” all managed within a routine foot health appointment.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

History

For new patients, the practitioner will take a full medical, medication, and lifestyle history. Returning patients will have their details reviewed and updated as needed.
All information is collected privately and stored securely to ensure confidentiality and peace of mind.

Assessment

Before any treatment begins, the practitioner will carry out a visual β€” and when appropriate, a hands-on β€” assessment to understand the cause of the concern and determine the most effective treatment plan.

Treatment

Once the treatment plan has been agreed, care is provided in a clean, calm environment using sterile instruments and up-to-date foot health techniques.
The aim is always to deliver safe, evidence-informed care that helps patients move more comfortably and feel well supported.

What Are The Specialist Treatments Offered?

We offer two key specialist treatments for stubborn skin and nail conditions:

Fungal Nails – Lacuna Method

This technique creates tiny micro-holes in the nail plate so antifungal medication can reach the nail bed, where the infection sits. It’s ideal for mild–moderate fungal infections and works best alongside a consistent home-care routine. Results take time as the nail grows out.

Verrucae – Verrutop

After gently removing the hard skin, Verrutop is applied directly to the verruca. Treatments are usually every two weeks, with most people needing around three sessions. It’s a gentle, targeted option with a strong success rate.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Simple conditions such as corns and calluses (hard skin) and minor nail complaints are treated in one session. Recurring conditions and those that need a treatment  plan such as verrucae, fungal infections etc. often need regular treatment. The treatment regime is determined by your practitioner who will discuss this with you.

Do I Benefit From Treatment?

Most people benefit from regular routine foot care appointments. At each visit, the practitioner not only treats the immediate concern but also reviews overall foot, lower-limb, and general wellbeing.

Just as routine dental and eye examinations help maintain long-term health, ongoing foot care plays an essential role in keeping patients mobile, comfortable, and well.

What Is The Difference Between A Foot Health Practitioner, a Chiropodist And A Podiatrist

Foot Health Practitioners and Podiatrists both support people with their foot health. When the title β€œChiropodist” and β€œPodiatrist” became protected in 2005/6, the Foot Health Practitioner role was introduced.

Foot Health Practitioners are diploma-trained and focus on routine care such as nail trimming, corns, calluses, fungal issues, verrucae, and support for well-controlled diabetics. Some complete extra training or later move into podiatry.

Belinda is a Foot Health Practitioner who qualified back in 2004 and therefore has a wealth of knowledge and experience under her belt.

Podiatrists are degree-trained, can work privately or in the NHS, and treat higher-risk patients. They can perform minor surgery, specialise in certain areas, and provide routine care. Many are registered with the HCPC.
